Available Dogs

All dogs who are available to adopt are vetted and up-to-date on all vaccines. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog’s individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a certain look and feel.

We always highly recommend putting in an application and getting approved before you see a dog and fall in love!

Hello There! The name is Jet (Formerly known as ‘J-T’, from my shelter days).

I am a lean, neutered, bouncy, approximately 2yo, 37lb border collie mix. My fosters at least say i am an Honorary Border Collie because of my coloring, tail floof and ears.

I am highly food motivated and am quick to learn. I am a huge snuggler and crave attention from my people.

My foster dad believes I’d be great for a pre-teen to grow old with and learn new tricks!

I will quickly become a velcro dog to my person. My attachment is part of my personality, I’ve been abandoned a lot in my short lifetime and I have separation anxiety in the form of some excessive drooling. I am being managed with Fluoxetine and my foster parents have seen a drastic improvement with my anxiety since.

Though I know my kennel is a safe space and will readily go in, I can quickly make it a swamp too. Just remember to come back for me, okay?

My foster parents think i would be best as the only dog in the home, but with the right experience, may get along fine with another dog around my size. Its a process sometimes but I get along well enough with my foster siblings. I just need time to adjust to change and do it gradually and if you are someone experienced with this, It may just work!

Because of my history of abandonment, I do some resource guarding that will need to continued to be worked with in my future home. Cats are definitely a no go though, as well as small dogs - They just look tasty!

Other than that, I am known for getting some serious air time. Mom keeps saying I am a “Tigger”, with springs in my legs? I still haven’t figured out what that is or that I can go over things, including the baby gates in my house.

I can certainly jump to your level though!

All i am saying is, just be patient with me and you’ll see what my foster parents see in me! I have a lot of potential!

Are you a gentle person looking for a companion who is easy to exercise in your fenced yard and a wonderfully entertaining friend?

That's ME!

I’m Sydney, a small girl (27 lbs), 18 months old, spayed, healthy, vaccinated BC/Mini Aussie mix.

I like training exercises (treats!) and learn fast! I sleep deeply through the night in my comfy crate and don’t mind spending a bit of time there during the day if you have to run errands (like getting me new tennis balls!)

I have a busy mind, will bark at sudden noises (apartment living would not be a good fit). I can be picky about canine friends and not a good buddy for birds, cats, squirrels, rabbits, or small children.

I am smart and sensitive, will follow you everywhere, look to you for guidance and comfort (and tennis balls).

I truly want to please you. I am expressive, have the cutest wiggle butt you’ve EVER EVER seen, and if you love to laugh out loud, I’m your girl!

I am currently in the DFW area and ready to be adopted!

The Mack truck of puppies, the wriggliest of them all, Wrigley!

Coming in at a whopping 65lb plus, this neutered pup isn't even a year yet and is not for the faint of heart!

This sweet boy has a big playful personality and loves to throw his weight around.

Mr. Rig is looking for a forever family/person that can keep up with his energy, both physically and mentally!

He would love some kids or younger/larger dogs to play with as he loves to roll around and wrestle. He is actually pretty malleable with people and dogs and will happily flomp over for belly rubs! Have a pool or like to visit the lake?

We believe Mr. Wrig will take to water like a duck and thoroughly enjoy some summertime swimming!  Wrigley will need an experienced family that knows how to stay consistent with obedience to really thrive. Though it is for his own good to become a top notch canine citizen, he will happily tell you all about it.

Wrigley is very food motivated and walks decent on a leash, though he does love to try and catch bugs, eat long blades of grass to look like a rustic Texan, and explore his surroundings, he tires out pretty quick in the heat.

Think you may be interested in meeting this big cutie? Send us an inquiry!

Aloof doesn’t even begin to explain it!
Meet Miro - wonderdog and wonderful dog 🐕.
Miro is a 2-3 year old purebred Aussie. And no, he isn’t ignoring you - he’s just a little extra special and deaf 🧏
Miro is the result of some bad breeding but that doesn’t mean he’s a bad dog, he’s the sweetest ball of energy you’ll ever meet!
Miro would love to find a home where he is either an only dog or with a dog who is just as playful as he is. Miro doesn’t understand the largeness of his bark and when he gets excited with other dogs he can be quite chatty!
Miro is house trained, crate trained and is doing well on a harness vs a leash.
Miro just needs someone willing to look past the fact he’s deaf and realize he’s a brilliant dog who wants his own brilliant home!!
Dug is a sweet, loving, cuddle bug!
He is a healthy, neutered, vaccinated 47 lb boy, between 5-6 yrs old.
He is being rehomed due to anxiety he began to exhibit around owner's one year old.
Dug loves to play and he plays well with other dogs. He is a big fan of frisbee, tug, chasing the remote control car, and running alongside us when we rollerblade.
He loves being in the car and going on adventures.
He's incredibly friendly and gives the best cuddles and snuggles.
He walks well on a leash, is house trained (and doggy-door trained), he does well getting his nails trimmed and dremmeled, and is patient when he gets a bath.
He loves to be lazy on the couch just as much as he loves to play.
Dug does show some signs of anxiety in new environments so introductions need to be slow and calm, and he will need plenty of adjustment time in your home. He should not be in a home with small children - otherwise, he is a great dog!
Howdy! I’m Winnie - the sweetest cattle dog in Central Texas!
And I dare you to resist my sassy strut and wiggly tail nub!
I’m a 6-7(ish) year old female Texas Heeler (that’s Australian Cattle Dog/Australian Shepherd if you were wondering).
But don’t let my age fool you into thinking I act like a senior dog.
I love playing tug and zooming around the yard with my foster brother! And afterward, I’m happy to chill with you on the sofa, or wherever you prefer to cuddle - because I LOVE a good cuddle with my humans!
I’ve been with BCRRT since last year because when they found me, I was VERY pregnant and also heartworm positive. I was the best mama ever to 9 pups, but I’m happy to be retired from that and now I just play auntie to my kittty foster siblings - I’m great with them, as well as the chickens and any dogs or humans that I meet!
I’m also crate trained and my foster mom says I’m a good girl on the leash and in the car.
I'm all healthy now and ready to meet my furever humans.
So if you’re ready to welcome all this charm and huggability into your home, apply to adopt
Gus is a beautiful red and white 7 month old border collie / great pyrense mix.
He is neutered and healthy, weighs about 50 pounds. He is very food motivated which helps him be an eager learner.Gus is very gentle when receiving a treat from your hand. He knows basic commands.
He is crate trained and potty trained. Walks alright on a leash. He is vocal. Very active and yet super cuddly.
He is great with other dogs and children, unknown about cats.
Gus enjoys car rides as well. Also enjoys the water!

Lucy goosey goose or at least that’s what my foster dad says when it’s time for dinner! Hi!

My name is Lucy! I am a 5 year old female Border Collie in the DFW area, searching for my furever home. Is that you?!

I am around 40lbs, spayed and UTD on shots. I’m your typical BC - herdy, nerdy, active and playful! And sometimes a little quirky.

I was an owner-surrender to a Texas shelter because my owners couldn’t care for my vet bills anymore. After many tests, trials and treatments the vets were a little stumped on why I sometimes have issues digesting my food 🍲 sometimes I eat too quickly and sometimes food gives me indigestion so it comes back up. It doesn’t affect me much beyond some fluctuating weight and doesn’t happen all the time - see, quirky!

My foster parents said whoever adopts me just needs to be patient and kind with me. I would do best as an only dog or with a four-legged friend who is playful and doesn’t mind me wanting to herd them!

I would also do best in a home with older children because I do like to herd (I’m a border collie!) Maybe even an older home with someone to keep me company during the day, walks and play time!

I am cat tested and safe, the resident cat is a little scary. I am crate trained, leash trained and my favourite thing in the world is to play fetch!!

If I sound like the girl for you, reach out today

Meet Izzy bizzy bee

Izzy is a very special girl and she’s looking for her very special family, maybe that’s you or someone you know!
Izzy is a former alumni dog who has come back to BCRRT - through no fault of her previous family - unfortunately circumstances changed and it was best for all parties that Izzy come back to us.

Since being back we have learnt all about Izzy and her wonderful personality.
We have discovered the love she gives us is never ending, the cuddles she produces are out of this world and that she loves nothing more than her donut ring toy and a tennis ball!! She does take time to warm up but once she trusts you, she bonds to her person/people and is ready for all the adventures that lie ahead.
Izzy will need a home that is quiet. She would be best suited to a family with no young children and no other dogs.
She is such a sweet girl with love to give and would love to find her forever home with people willing to spend time with her, throwing a ball around, quiet walks with her humans and cuddles.
She is active but has an excellent off-switch and knows when it is time for inside vs outside.
Izzy would do well with an older couple, maybe an empty-nest home where she can be spoilt forever and ever. In return she will give you her unwavering loyalty and spunk
Izzy is around 6 years old, UTD on all shots and spayed.
She is crate trained but is perfectly fine out of one, she walks well on a leash but is strong.
She rides well in a car and is located in the DFW area.
Interested? Reach out to us and apply today! We believe Izzy deserves the world and can’t wait to help her find it.

Who's up for a quirky red and white coated BC mix girl who has so much love to give?

Well then, I might just be your girl.   I have a  super silky  and soft coat and you are going to love it and I don't mind people brushing it or washing it.

But since I have a full white face, I must be very careful outside not to get sunburned especially around my eyes.

I'm Maddie and I am searching for an active young family with kids who will let me follow them everywhere, cuddle with them, and with someone home almost all day long or take me with you would be wonderful.

I am around 1 1/2 years old, 40 pounds, spayed, potty and crate trained, and up to date on all vaccines and heart-worm preventatives.

I can be a little shy when meeting new people, but warm up quickly.   I haven't been around very young children yet, but my foster mom says I would be great with kids 5 and older, younger kids I might be too much in their face as I just want to love them and lay on them.

I'm a lower to mid level energy dog and like to chill wherever you are.   I want to be a lap dog if you will let me. I also really need a confident dog sibling to play with and teach me that this world is fun.

I LOVE playing with my foster dog sisters, it's so much fun. I love to do zoomies in the backyard and play chase with my foster's 3-year-old BC, and hunt for squirrel and geckos.

I also live with 2 senior girl BCs and sometimes I can be a bit much in their face because I just want to play but I'm still learning that not all dogs want to play with me all the time. So if you have an older dog (10+) probably not a good fit for me.

Recently I started playing tug of war with my foster sister and it was so much fun. We tugged and tugged till all of a sudden there was this white fluff all over the place. I just don't understand how the toy exploded!

I love to chew on dog toys and I’m learning to play with them instead of destroy them.

Playing fetch I have not figured out, not sure that’s gonna be my thing. I do like to chew on the ball but it you throw it at me to catch, I will duck, and if you throw it about a foot from me, I will get it and lay down and chew on it. Not sure I will ever get that game, but maybe one day I will if you give me lots of time to understand it.

I have been working on my manners and love getting treats, ice cubes, fruits and veggies.

I have been told I am food motivated. I still like to jump up to give people hugs but when I do that, I am very gentle. I love going for walks, but I really need more training on this. My foster mom says going to training classes with you would greatly help my confidence but I only want to go with you to classes that are fun and positive where I get lots of treats!   I'm very sensitive and can be afraid of new things.  Even the big TV makes me jump back sometimes when the screen changes, but I have been working on not watching TV as it's not good for me anyway.

I'm great in a crate at night if needed as long as you are there with me, but I'd rather be in bed with you. I have been working hard on being OK in a crate when my foster family is gone. Thankfully my foster mom is home almost all the time. I get a bit of separation anxiety when they are gone and bark in my crate at times.

My foster mom has been teaching me that I'm OK when they are gone. I now love getting stuffed Kong toys and that really helps me to settle. My foster mom has these cameras that can record me when gone. So, they know that I have learned to settle and not bark as much but I do get excited and bark a bit when they come in the door. They let me out once I settle and sit and I get to love on them.

I have come a long way but will need time to get used to my new family being away from me. So please give me time.

I am located near northwest side of Houston.

Prim(Rose), affectionately known as Prim, is a vibrant, young, healthy, spayed, border collie mix with a heart full of love and a mind sharp as a tack.

At just shy of one year old, Prim is a bundle of energy and intelligence, showcasing the strong herding instincts that her breed is renowned for.

Though she may be on the smaller side, what Prim lacks in size, she more than makes up for in spirit and agility.

Prim thrives on engagement and loves to put her brilliant mind to work, making her an ideal companion for an active family that can provide her with plenty of mental and physical stimulation.

Her keen intelligence means she’s a quick learner, eager to please, and ready to take on any challenge—whether it’s learning new tricks, navigating agility courses, or going on adventurous hikes.

While Prim adores human companionship, her strong herding instincts make her choosey about her canine friends.

While Prim loves wrestling with her doggy friends, she is not a fan of sharing any of her toys.  She would do best in a home without other dogs or with a very confident dog who can match her energy and leadership. This will allow Prim to shine as the loving and loyal companion she is meant to be, without the stress of navigating complex doggy social dynamics.

Prim is looking for a forever home that understands and appreciates the unique qualities of her breed—a family that is as active and adventurous as she is, ready to explore the world together.

With the right guidance and love, Prim will not only be a faithful friend but a true member of the family, bringing joy, laughter, and lots of fun to her new home.

If you’re looking for a smart, spirited, and sweet-natured dog to add to your life, Prim(Rose) is waiting to meet you.

Hi my name is Maximilian because I am one in a million.

I do get called lots of other things though, like Max or Mad Max when I get the zoomies and run full speed though the house or Maxwell Smart when I learn new things really quickly (like I always do when there are yummy treats involved).  Other names I hear a lot are What’s In Your Mouth?, Drop it!, Goober, Sweet Boy and Good Boy.

Now let me tell you a little about myself and the kind of human I am looking for. I am what they call a Borgi. You know, one of those fancy designer dogs.

Actually I’m  a Border Collie Corgi mix but Borgi has a nice ring to it. I am about a year old so still pretty much a puppy. I Have been going to school every week and am told that I am very smart and settled for my age.

I know sit, down, come, heel, I make my turns very well on leash and walk with a loose leash right next to my person. I go out quite often with my foster parents and foster siblings so I do very well out in public at restaurants and stores.

I am learning stay but need more work. I ride in the car very well and love to go with my people. I love my crate and like to go there to lay down when I get tired or want to be alone.  I love to chew on horns, antlers and hooves. I will do anything for yummy treats.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE people and other dogs and I get along well with the cat too.

I need a family or person who will want to continue training me to be a good boy and take me places with them.

I have no problem staying home in my crate when you are gone but I want to play when you get home. I would love to be able to learn some kind of sports because I am so full of energy.

I also would like a home with another dog to play with. If you think you are the right person for me then fill out the application at the link below and I will see if I agree.

Max is UTD on his vaccines and has been neutered and microchipped. He is on Heartworm and flea and tick preventative.

He is good with other dogs, large and small, and cats. He has not been testes with small children.

Maple - 1178: Coming Soon

Maple is a just as sweet as her name. The loving and trusting nature of this once outside dog will melt anyone who meets her.

She has such a gentle disposition, she is very dog friendly, and has a wonderful relaxed off switch.

Maple takes a moment to warm up to new situations but is very trusting of her humans.

She has been a great car rider, transporting from Oklahoma to Dallas along with multiple vet visits. The vet office commented on how calm she was during her exam and shots.

Maple currently isn't a fan of the crate, but is not destructive indoors when left with her foster doggy friends.

She is housebroken and sleeps through the night on a comfy dog bed.

She is spayed and weighs 31 pounds.

Her ideal home can be a busy household but recommended children over 5 as she still has uncertainty adjusting to indoor living. In her foster home she has done amazing meeting new people but needs a patient adopter to help her navigate her shyness.

She would love a doggy playmate. Her prey drive would not permit her in a home with cats, chickens or other small animals.

Maple is currently undergoing treatment for heartworms and is healing very well so isn't immediately available for adoption. However if this freckled red sounds like a fit for your family please submit an application.

She will be available in November to move into her forever family. She is sure to provide her forever home with a lifetime of sweetness.
