Winnie - 1015: Pending

Howdy! I’m Winnie - the sweetest cattle dog in Central Texas!
And I dare you to resist my sassy strut and wiggly tail nub!
I’m a 6-7(ish) year old female Texas Heeler (that’s Australian Cattle Dog/Australian Shepherd if you were wondering).
But don’t let my age fool you into thinking I act like a senior dog.
I love playing tug and zooming around the yard with my foster brother! And afterward, I’m happy to chill with you on the sofa, or wherever you prefer to cuddle - because I LOVE a good cuddle with my humans!
I’ve been with BCRRT since last year because when they found me, I was VERY pregnant and also heartworm positive. I was the best mama ever to 9 pups, but I’m happy to be retired from that and now I just play auntie to my kittty foster siblings - I’m great with them, as well as the chickens and any dogs or humans that I meet!
I’m also crate trained and my foster mom says I’m a good girl on the leash and in the car.
I'm all healthy now and ready to meet my furever humans.
So if you’re ready to welcome all this charm and huggability into your home, apply to adopt

Lucy goosey goose or at least that’s what my foster dad says when it’s time for dinner! Hi!

My name is Lucy! I am a 5 year old female Border Collie in the DFW area, searching for my furever home. Is that you?!

I am around 40lbs, spayed and UTD on shots. I’m your typical BC - herdy, nerdy, active and playful! And sometimes a little quirky.

I was an owner-surrender to a Texas shelter because my owners couldn’t care for my vet bills anymore. After many tests, trials and treatments the vets were a little stumped on why I sometimes have issues digesting my food 🍲 sometimes I eat too quickly and sometimes food gives me indigestion so it comes back up. It doesn’t affect me much beyond some fluctuating weight and doesn’t happen all the time - see, quirky!

My foster parents said whoever adopts me just needs to be patient and kind with me. I would do best as an only dog or with a four-legged friend who is playful and doesn’t mind me wanting to herd them!

I would also do best in a home with older children because I do like to herd (I’m a border collie!) Maybe even an older home with someone to keep me company during the day, walks and play time!

I am cat tested and safe, the resident cat is a little scary. I am crate trained, leash trained and my favourite thing in the world is to play fetch!!

If I sound like the girl for you, reach out today

Meet Izzy bizzy bee

Izzy is a very special girl and she’s looking for her very special family, maybe that’s you or someone you know!
Izzy is a former alumni dog who has come back to BCRRT - through no fault of her previous family - unfortunately circumstances changed and it was best for all parties that Izzy come back to us.

Since being back we have learnt all about Izzy and her wonderful personality.
We have discovered the love she gives us is never ending, the cuddles she produces are out of this world and that she loves nothing more than her donut ring toy and a tennis ball!! She does take time to warm up but once she trusts you, she bonds to her person/people and is ready for all the adventures that lie ahead.
Izzy will need a home that is quiet. She would be best suited to a family with no young children and no other dogs.
She is such a sweet girl with love to give and would love to find her forever home with people willing to spend time with her, throwing a ball around, quiet walks with her humans and cuddles.
She is active but has an excellent off-switch and knows when it is time for inside vs outside.
Izzy would do well with an older couple, maybe an empty-nest home where she can be spoilt forever and ever. In return she will give you her unwavering loyalty and spunk
Izzy is around 6 years old, UTD on all shots and spayed.
She is crate trained but is perfectly fine out of one, she walks well on a leash but is strong.
She rides well in a car and is located in the DFW area.
Interested? Reach out to us and apply today! We believe Izzy deserves the world and can’t wait to help her find it.

Prim(Rose), affectionately known as Prim, is a vibrant, young, healthy, spayed, border collie mix with a heart full of love and a mind sharp as a tack.

At just shy of one year old, Prim is a bundle of energy and intelligence, showcasing the strong herding instincts that her breed is renowned for.

Though she may be on the smaller side, what Prim lacks in size, she more than makes up for in spirit and agility.

Prim thrives on engagement and loves to put her brilliant mind to work, making her an ideal companion for an active family that can provide her with plenty of mental and physical stimulation.

Her keen intelligence means she’s a quick learner, eager to please, and ready to take on any challenge—whether it’s learning new tricks, navigating agility courses, or going on adventurous hikes.

While Prim adores human companionship, her strong herding instincts make her choosey about her canine friends.

While Prim loves wrestling with her doggy friends, she is not a fan of sharing any of her toys.  She would do best in a home without other dogs or with a very confident dog who can match her energy and leadership. This will allow Prim to shine as the loving and loyal companion she is meant to be, without the stress of navigating complex doggy social dynamics.

Prim is looking for a forever home that understands and appreciates the unique qualities of her breed—a family that is as active and adventurous as she is, ready to explore the world together.

With the right guidance and love, Prim will not only be a faithful friend but a true member of the family, bringing joy, laughter, and lots of fun to her new home.

If you’re looking for a smart, spirited, and sweet-natured dog to add to your life, Prim(Rose) is waiting to meet you.

Like big mutts? Then sweet Glenn may be your guy!

Glenn is a sweet, loving, boisterous larger puppy. Glenn weighs about 60 lbs, and should not get much bigger. He has some physical special needs. Glenn needs adopters who are home most of the time. He would thrive as an only dog or with a large breed sibling. He is too rough and tumble for cats, dogs under about 40 lbs, or small kids.

Glenn arrived at a DFW-area shelter in July. He was about four months old and suffered from multiple gunshot wounds. Since then, he has had several surgeries and is doing well. There are lasting effects, however. He has a fused hock joint, so will need moderate, consistent exercise and diligent weight management, and he has had a urethostomy, so he needs to be taken outside at least every two hours, or provided with a potty pad when his humans are absent.

Glenn loves gentle fetch and more vigorous tug games, and also enjoys snuggling on the couch. He is such a precious, resilient boy who has been through so much but deserves his happily ever after. Could you be his ideal match?

Blitz - 1193: Pending

Hi! I’m Blitz.

My mom calls me Blitzy, Ritz Bitz, but mostly Bitzy. My favorite things to do are to wrestle with my brothers, chase leaves, chew on stuff, and play with toys.

I’m good at tug! I also really love treats. If I sit down, mom always gives me one!

When I get tired, I like to hide from my brothers and make my mom look for me. I do like getting to sit in mom’s lap for love and cuddles and sleep on the couch near her.

Blitz is the sweetest little guy. He can be a little shy with new noises and new things, but quickly gains confidence from mom and his siblings.

He is very smart and was the first to learn sit and paw (shake). Blitz is always the first ready for a nap and really likes to sleep at your feet or on the couch near you.

Don, Dash, and Blitz were born on 11/29/24 in BCRR care. Gypsy (mom) is a border collie mix and was rescued from a shelter and was later discovered to be pregnant. We do not have any knowledge of Dad.

These puppies will do best in a home with a sibling who is willing to play and to show them the ropes. They are making great progress towards potty training, crate training, and leash walking. But they are still babies and will need someone to help him learn all his obedience and manners.

Don, Blitz, and Dash will be available after 2/20/25. They will have had 3 rounds of puppy shots with a fourth round recommended at 16 weeks. They have not been tested with cats, chickens, livestock, or children.

Hi everyone, my name is Mick.

I am 1 ½ years old male Border Collie. Everyone always tells me how handsome I am so it must be true.

I love people and dogs, large and small. We have a cat at my foster home, and I like him too. He is a very special cat who really likes dogs. I think I could live with a cat like that in my new home. Another dog who likes to play would be good too.

I like to go places with my people so I can meet new people and dogs. I do very well in restaurants and stores that are dog friendly.

I was brought as a stray to the animal shelter in Dumas Tx (that’s up in the Panhandle for those of you who don’t know). When I first came to my foster home, I really had no manners at all. I really liked to jump on people. In fact, for a while I thought my name was OFF, DOWN, or NO GET OFF! I would run like crazy through the house and jump on furniture. I would jump on the other dogs and not leave them alone. They all hated me then. I didn’t like to be on a leash or go into my crate. I chewed up blankets, dog beds and shoes. I had no focus and would not listen to anything I was told. Mom said I was one of her biggest challenges to train. Hey, what can I say, I am a teenager after all. But that was the old me. I am so much better now.

I will walk on a leash now and don’t jump on people as much. I still do when I am excited like when you first get home or let me out of my crate, but I pay attention when you tell me down now.

I am good in my crate now. Sometimes you have to lead me to it but I will go in with no problem. I am housetrained but fair warning, make sure you put your shoes away. They are my most favorite snack. I think I might like to play ball, but Kenzie (my canine foster sister) won’t let me. When I try to get it, she growls and nips me. I don’t think that is very nice but oh well.

I love to play in the snow, remember I told you I came from the Panhandle and it gets very cold there. One thing I promise you is that I will always keep you safe in the bathroom. You just try to keep me out. Not happening. I know there are monsters in there, but I will protect you.

Mom says I still need training but she has taught me the basics and now it’s time for my furever person to take up where she has left off. Is that person you? I can’t wait to meet you. Hurry up and go to the website and fill out the application. What are you waiting for? Go!

Mick is UTD on vaccines, is heartworm negative and on HW preventive and flea and tick preventative. He is neutered, gets along great with dogs large and small and dog savvy cats. He is an all around sweet and lovable boy who is just as happy laying on the couch as he is running and playing.
