#578 Cooper, Male, Under One Year

Cooper is a happy, friendly, and curious 11-month old border collie/Australian Shepherd mix boy. At 55 pounds, this big pup with a natural bob tail is still finding his legs as he leaps and practically gallops across the dog park when playing with his furry friends.

Cooper was an owner surrender due to a cranky, impatient older dog that just couldn’t handle his in-the-face puppy playfulness in the home. He was raised with a younger human sibling, and he loves people of all ages – especially men – as he was very bonded and close to the husband in his previous home. Ideally, he would do well in an active home with no other dog, or a dog who can handle his playfulness and level of activity; he loves chasing and being chased by other socialized, well mannered dogs!

Cooper’s favorite things to do are going for walks, treat-rewarding training, going for car rides or to the dog park, and playing fetch (though still learning to bring it back and drop it). Cooper has a great sit, loves giving direct eye contact for treats, shakes with either paw, and lies down with a little coaxing (and treats). Cooper is content to lie next to you on the couch while chewing on a favorite durable toy, and will watch tv if there is anything with animals on – especially dogs (though with that BC “eye”, you have to watch him closely, as his former owner said he had to put him in another room when he watched the hunting shows with deer or elk, for fear of him charging the tv).

Cooper is neutered, microchipped, on heartworm prevention, and up to date on all vaccines. If you are interested in adopting this loving boy, an approved application and home visit will be required.
