Mandy is a young adult Border Collie mix who loves, loves, loves to play! She is estimated to be between 15-18 months old and weighs 40 pounds. Mandy likes playing with the other dogs in her foster home, as well as playing with her human foster mom. And boy, does she enjoy having lots of toys to play with! She often keeps herself – and her foster Mom! – entertained by shaking and tossing toys in the air. She likes to fetch, chase and tug so much that a toy can be used as a reward for good behavior during training sessions. Mandy also likes yummy treats, so she will work for either toy or food rewards. Mandy is crate trained and potty trained, and working on walking nicely on a leash. She sometimes gets excited and pulls, so still needs a little work in that area.
Mandy is very high energy and will need to find an active home. She has been tested for herding instinct and drive on livestock and she passed with flying colors! She would make an excellent herding dog for an experienced trainer. Mandy has also been introduced to agility jumps and caught on right away. She tries to drag her mom into the agility area and starts looking for jumps to take. She has the desire and drive to be a potential sport dog (agility, disc, flyball) if given the opportunity and training. She would also make a great running, biking or hiking buddy. She has loads of energy and loves to be with her person.
Mandy would do best in an active home that has experience with high energy herding breeds. She gets along great with other dogs, and of course loves humans of all sizes. However, due to her herding instinct, she may try to herd small children, so probably would not fit in a home with toddlers.
