Jackson is a foster from the Austin Animal Center who is truly a gem! He was really unsure about cars when he first came to foster but after a few fun trips to the park he gets in the car on his own with ease. He doesn’t love his crate but will go in and settle down easily. He has excellent house manners. He doesn’t chew and is fully house trained. The shelter estimates him at 7 months but I think he’s closer to 10-12 months. For being so young he’s actually a very laid back and relaxed dog. He’s very go with the flow and loves to be by me. He is very playful with my two dogs. He does try to pick up things with his mouth and take them to the backyard but listens when you tell him to let it go. He walks really well on a leash and I don’t have to worry about him running away. He loves to play and gets along with any dog that I have brought over. He is not aggressive in any way and has such an easy way about him that dogs feel comfortable with him right away. He is great with kids, he follows my 10 year old niece around and just adores her. He does have a bad habit of trying to put his paws on you but he’s starting to learn he doesn’t get any attention that way. He isn’t quite there yet but I think he will learn. He would make a great therapy dog outside of the jumping. Anytime he is uncertain about something it doesn’t take him long to adjust and learn that it’s ok. He’s such an easy keeper and everyone who meets him can tell right away how friendly and fun he is. An application can be filled out online at http://austintexas.gov/online-form/visitor-profile and reference his number A750279, or you can contact me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org. He is not currently neutered but AAC will do so before he can go to his forever home.
